Cattleya hybrid 'Bob Betts'
|
|
This hybrid was created by the famous hybridizer McDade by crossing C. Bow Bells and C. mossiae var. wagneri.

This large winter bloomer is one of my favorites.
The fragrance is light and very romantic. A very famous hybrid that has been used extensively in breeding because these white hybrids often produce spectacular mutations. |

Cattleya hybrid 'Prima White'
|
|
Parents: C. White Sail x C. Prima Donna (1969.) C. Prima White is an old time favorite of mine. This was one of the first Cattleyas that I grew. The blooms were as large as a saucer and when it bloomed it would produce six to eight fragrant flowers, which would last for weeks. |

Note:
In certain cases resupination (180 degrees twisting of the ovarium, occurring in most of orchids) does not take place, resulting in "upside down" position of the flower. |

Very large flowers with good texture, long lasting and fragrant.
The splash of pink on the lip is a very nice touch to a very pretty orchid. |

Brassocattleya 'Mount Hood' is a showy example - watching its unfolding buds changing color and producing the striking fringed lip is especially nice.
